The Spanish Digital Nomad Residence Permit Program combines the traditional advantages of a Schengen-zone residence — visa-free travel across Europe, life in a mild Mediterranean climate, and operations in a stable currency — with exclusive opportunities for remote professionals.
Applicants benefit from accelerated approval within 20–30 days, a preferential 24% tax rate under the “Beckham Law,” the legal right to work with international clients without investing in the local economy, eligibility to include family members, and a direct path to permanent residency and EU citizenship.

This is an innovative residency category established under Law 28/2022 and integrated into Articles 74–76 of Law 14/2013. The visa allows third-country nationals to legally reside in Spain while working remotely for foreign employers or running their own international business.
Applicants must be citizens of non-EU countries, at least 18 years old, and possess a higher education or vocational diploma, or have a minimum of 3 years of verified professional experience. Additionally, a clean criminal record certificate and a stable portfolio of remote contracts or a client base are required.
The program fully supports family reunification: spouses, registered partners, minor children, and financially dependent adult children can obtain residency alongside the main applicant. The key requirement is proof of sufficient combined income to support all family members.
The applicant’s base monthly income must be 200% of the Spanish minimum wage (SMI), approximately EUR 2,762. For the first family member, an additional 75% of the SMI is required, and for each subsequent member, 25% of the SMI. This ensures a comfortable standard of living in line with European norms.
Limited interaction with the Spanish market is allowed: income from local clients may not exceed 20% of total professional turnover. This enables freelancers to develop local business connections while maintaining an international focus.
One of the most attractive benefits is access to the “Beckham Law” tax regime for the first 5 years of residency. This special status provides a fixed 24% tax rate exclusively on income earned in Spain, with a cap of EUR 600,000 per year, optimizing the overall tax burden.
The Spanish Digital Nomad Residence Visa serves as a full step toward citizenship: after 5 years of continuous legal residence, permanent residency (PR) can be obtained, and after 10 years, applicants may apply for Spanish citizenship.
